ECMR NEWS 2025 TOP 5

Newsletters

In our bi-monthly Expats newsletter, the Welcome to Maastricht Region (WTMR) survey came in at number 1 for 2025, and due to its popularity, our partner programme WTMR was able to collate some great information for our current and prospective international residents. The WTMR survey was followed closely by our Interview with an international: Yanqin Wang. Snatching bronze was Finding the right handyman for the job - handyman companies in the Maastricht Region. – we hope this provided some well-needed help for all those burgeoning DIYers. The Zuid-Limburg veilig campaign Stay safe for 72 hours was widely read in October. During the summer, our readers lapped up our Interview with an international: Quentin Thomas-Oliver best.

News website

On the news section of our website showed the most variation across the year. The Nuffic fact sheet for international students was the most-read in 2025. This was closely followed by, perhaps less surprisingly , the announcement  IND news: increase in immigration application fees for 2026. Our article about Carnaval in Zuid Limburg came in third place. Our interview with an international: Quentin Thomas-Oliver was also the most read interview overall on the news page of our site, and besides Carnaval, our readers also enjoyed finding out about all the activities surrounding  Chinese New Year 2025 activities in the Maastricht Region.

LinkedIn

On LinkedIn, people like to read about the region as a whole. The Living in posts and interviews were invariably the most liked, with the big winner being Living and working in Heerlen. This was followed by Living and working in Brunssum. Our interview with WTMR colleague Nigel Schijven received a lot of likes and was shared many times, as was the interview with Roeland Heywood, Partnership manager at ABNAMRO. Most recently, our video interview with a recruiter Vivica van Vlijmen from Xelvin was launched. In just a few days, it became the fifth most viewed item on our LinkedIn page.

We’d love to hear more from our readers about what kind of articles you would like to see on our channels, and we’re also keen to interview our international residents who feel they have a story to share.
