From refugees to specialised knowledge migrants: the Immigratie- en Naturalisatiedienst – IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service) assesses all applications from international citizens who live in the Netherlands or want to become Dutch citizens.

The IND is available for appointments at Maastricht International Centre for the specific purposes of issuing residence permits, return visas and collecting biometric information. When a residence permit is ready for collection in Maastricht a letter will be sent to you from the IND.

NATO personnel and family members
You can apply for a residence permit if one of the following situations applies to you:
- You work in the Netherlands as a NATO employee (civilian staff).
- You are stationed outside the Netherlands as a NATO employee (civilian or military), but you live in the Netherlands.
- You are a family member of a NATO employee (civilian or military) who works in the Netherlands.
Privileged persons
If you hold "privileged person" status or are you a family member of someone who holds "privileged person" status, then you do not need a residence permit. A privileged person is someone who has a special status as a diplomat, a consular staff member, or employee of an international organisation.
Making an appointment for residence permit application
You make an appointment at the IND service point in Maastricht. During your appointment, the IND representative will check if you meet the requirements. Your passport photo and fingerprint data will also be taken. The appointment confirmation will list the documents you need to bring. Do you need more information?
