Local shops with food from all around the globe

Although we are very proud of our region – the Maastricht Region – we also know that the Netherlands may not score terribly high on a global scale in culinary terms. Our traditional cuisine has a certain focus and has traditionally been limited to the types of produce that can be cultivated in these lowest of lands. It is then no coincidence that we have growing numbers of restaurants as well as shops providing a vast array of dishes, ingredients and produce from all over the world.

As Christmas is right around the corner, we were wondering, what is traditionally on your Christmas menu? What are your favourite dishes or tasty morsels from your own country that are eaten in the colder seasons? Where do you get the ingredients?

We thought we’d put together a list of sources of ingredients and produce from all around the globe that can be found right here in the Maastricht Region. What’s your favourite? What have we missed out?
