Chinese New Year 2025 in Maastricht

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the most important holiday in China. It marks the beginning of a new lunar year and is celebrated with family gatherings, delicious food, dance performances and fireworks. Each year is associated with a different animal from the Chinese zodiac, and 2025 is the year of the Snake! 

To celebrate the Chinese New Year in Maastricht, Confucius Institute Maastricht (CIM) will organize two events.

  • 1 February there are different activities to attend at the Amazing Oriental supermarket in the centre of Maastricht.  Such as Chinese stamp-making, Chinese calligraphy, dragon dance performance (10:00-12:00) and much more! The event is from 10:00 till 14:00 and organised in join collaboration by CIM, Amazing Oriental and other Chinese organisations.
  • At 12 February CIM and Maastricht Asian Society a student organization in Maastricht will be hosting an event which combines fun Chinese activities, such as a Hanfu photobooth, calligraphy, Chinese games etc. The event ends with a delicious potluck, in which everyone has to bring their own dish to share! You are welcome to join in from 18:30 till 22:00, at Kaleido, Tapijnkazerne 21, Maastricht.
