Mercedes new recruits introduction to the Maastricht Region

On 7 January this year we welcomed 12 new Mercedes customer service recruits to the Maastricht Region. We wanted to make sure they experienced a quick and efficient administrative formalities registration process so we teamed up with Mercedes and the Gemeente Loket (municipal services desk) and provided the Fast-Track process as well as a short “Introduction to the Maastricht Region” presentation for them all.

As much as they are getting to know us, we want to get to know our new neighbours, colleagues and hopefully future friends so we asked them for their first impressions of the Maastricht Region and what they are most looking forward to exploring and experiencing here.

Jonah, Germany

I’ve been to Amsterdam and Groningen but this is my first time in the Maastricht Region. Before I came I did some research online. Maastricht looked like a beautiful city and it looked like the people were friendly. I am looking forward to partying here, getting involved in sport and making new friends. Compared to Germany the administrative processes are easy and fast and clear.

Leon, Germany

I am happy that I have found a good job here. I am a Senior Customer Care Representative. The people here have been warm-hearted and welcoming and the culture is much more open than in Germany. I am excited to go out, go to bars and meet people. The formalities process has been really easy and fast-tracked in comparison to Germany where the cogs move really slowly. I really hope I can build a new life here.

Nancy, Ireland

I’ve been to Amsterdam once for a short holiday but I’ve never been to the Maastricht Region before. I did do a bit of research before I came about the city and the general area and I thought it looked very nice. I heard great things about the people and the culture here. One thing that I noticed is that Maastricht is known for having a lot of different cultural events that take place within the city, which is nice to see. Different social things are happening that we can take part in, so I’m looking forward to that. Also Boekhandel Dominicanen, it’s so beautiful I’ve never seen anything like that before so I have to go back there and take a longer look.

Michelle, Switzerland

I think it is a nice little city and I like all the lights, the winter decorations are so nice. It's a little bit windy, windier than I thought it would be, but it's OK. Also what is really great is that you can go by bicycle everywhere. I don't have to take the bus. The formalities registration process was really fast, a great experience. We got everything done really quickly. I’m looking forward to learning Dutch, to be able to talk to the locals and then I don’t need to speak English. I want to have a real authentic local living experience here.
