Street harassment
Street harassment has no place in Maastricht. Yet it still happens. Being yelled at, being followed, being stared at, catcalling, unwanted comments or unwanted touching. Street harassment particularly affects women and girls and no one has the right to make you feel unsafe. This kind of behaviour should never be seen as normal.
That’s why the Municipality of Maastricht now has an online reporting centre for street harassment. Street harassment includes any form of unwanted attention in Maastricht’s public spaces such as streets or parks. You can report anonymously. By sharing your experience, you help the Municipality gather information which can be used to improve street lighting, to increase supervision in certain areas of the city or the implementation of other security measures.
