Changes to household waste collections in Maastricht in 2026

From 1 January 2026, several changes will be made to how the Municipality of Maastricht collects waste. Household waste will be collected on Tuesdays in all districts, and plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons (PMD) will continue to be collected on Wednesdays.

Household waste

Household waste will be collected once every 2 weeks on Tuesdays.

In the city centre shopping area, collections will take place once a week on Tuesday evenings, as many residents there have limited storage space.

PMD

From 2026, plastic verpakkingen, metalen verpakkingen en drinkpakken, PMD (plastic packaging, metal packaging and drink cartons) will be collected from kerbsides in more districts: Wyckerpoort, Heugemerveld, Wyck, Jekerkwartier, Kommelkwartier, Statenkwartier, Boschstraatkwartier and Sint Maartenspoort. These collections will take place once every 2 weeks, always on Wednesdays.

PMD will not be collected from kerbsides in the city centre shopping area. The underground pmd containers at the 8 milieuperrons (sorting stations) will remain in place there.
