Interview with Expert Partner: Bonnefanten
Each month we give one of our Expert Partners the floor to introduce themselves and their services so you can ensure you and your employees are getting the most out of life in the Maastricht Region. This time we interviewed Esther Wagemans Head of Communications & Marketing at Bonnefanten.
'My name is Esther Wagemans and I live and work at the Bonnefanten in Maastricht. I am Head of Communications & Marketing here and, together with my team, responsible for all internal and external communications, marketing and press. The Bonnefanten is a museum that offers diverse exhibitions and regularly organises multilingual public activities in-house or in collaboration with other local or regional partners, and there’s of course our Bonnefanten Free Fridays, which are free for everyone, young and old. The BFF evenings have a style all their own, with each event showcasing its own unique and surprising programme filled with art, workshops, music, Speed Tours and more – it’s an evening of art, offered in an accessible way.'
How has your organisation been involved in Expat Centre Maastricht Region events or projects?
'As one of the original Programme Partners we have collaborated on various events through the years providing internationals and expats access to unique cultural and art programming including exclusive exhibition tours and on-site events.'
How can your organisation add value to the lives of expats / internationals in the Maastricht Region?
'Bonnefanten showcases art and artists who have not or rarely had exposure in the Netherlands. We provide space for other perspectives and stories. We invite discovery, broaden views, open eyes and hope to surprise our audiences. We offer an inclusive compass and help to better understand the world we live in. Especially when it comes to urgent themes which have lasting impact on life in the Maastricht Region.'
What is the best thing about living in the Maastricht Region?
'Maastricht and the surrounding area has a lot to offer. The city offers everything you need, but compact; nature and the hilly countryside nearby to enjoy the outdoors; discovering the Maastricht Region – the Meuse Rhine Euroregion (Belgium and Germany) is a stone's throw away – and enjoying local food and drinks. And of course the authentic Limburgse vlaai.'
