Bank account

Once registered in the Netherlands, the following documents are required to open a bank account:

Proof of identity (passport, identity card or residence permit)
Burgerservicenummer - BSN (citizen service number)
Proof of address (signed rental contract, utilities bill)

Banks like ABN AMRO, ING and Rabobank have websites in English.

Tip: In certain circumstances, an employment contract may be sufficient to open a bank account before receipt of a BSN. However, the bank will require notification of the BSN within a reasonable period after opening the account.
